By Plane

Ryanair, Easyjet, Aer Lingus and Flybe all fly to our four nearest airports, namely: Poitiers (45 mins), Limoges (1h 15 mins), La Rochelle & Bordeaux (2 hours).  Ryanair to Angouleme (25 mins).  Car hire is available at all airports.

By Car

LD Lines , Sea France, Eurotunnel, Brittany Ferries and P&O all cater for the northern/western coast of France and range from 4-6.5 hours drive.  See company websites for more details.

The opening of the new extended A28 motorway (autoroute) between Alençon and Rouen has shortened the journey and means you can now travel by motorway for most of the journey.

By Rail

Eurostar London Waterloo to Lille / Paris and then the TGV to Poitiers, Ruffec or Angouleme.  Approximately 7-8 hours.  Hire cars are available from all major rail stations.

 

From the North (see map) :
From the A10 south of Poitiers, take the N10 towards Angouleme.  Drive for about 70 kms, about 5km south of Ruffec take the Verteuil turn onto the D192 (left side exit crossing the carridgeway).  Follow the road round until you come to the crossroads.  Turn right into the village (D26) and continue on this road past the chateau gates on the left.  Continue through the village and follow the road round to the left at the Post Office (La Poste).  Go over two bridges and take the first left turn into Rue de l’Oumelet.

From the South:
Take the N10 north of Angouleme towards Poitiers.  After 40 kms approx. take the exit to Verteuil (left hand exit crossing the carridgeway).  Follow the road round and turn right at the sign to the village.  Continue along the road until you come into the village.  Turn right at the end of this road and follow the road round to the left at the Post Office (La Poste).  Go over two bridges and take the first left turn into Rue de l’Oumelet.
