Downstairs the large lounge area has two comfy sofas, exposed stone walls, tiled floors and an oak beamed ceiling.  The large French doors look out onto the garden and field beyond which borders the River Charente – perfect for fishing or kayaking in the summer.  If its winter, relax by the wood burning stove and enjoy the wonderful views of the fairytale chateau. 

For your indoor entertainment there is a TV (French and English), DVD-CD player, radio and a good selection of books, games and information on local tourist attractions.

The spacious kitchen is very well equipped to cater for all your needs and has plenty of cupboard and worktop space.  There is a gas oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, iron and ironing board.  The kitchen is open-plan and leads to a dining area suitable for six people.  We also have a separate downstairs toilet.  As well as the wood burning stove, there is electric heating downstairs.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has an en suite shower room, a king size bed and triple wardrobe space.  The room is very light and spacious and can easily fit a cot (which can be supplied if required).  French doors lead to a juliet balcony from where you see a vast expanse of sky, gardens with mature trees and the riverbank.

There are two further bedrooms; one twin bedded room at the front of the gite and one double bedroom with views onto the gardens.  Both rooms have plenty of storage space and are very comfortable.  These two rooms share a shower room with toilet and washbasin.  All three bedrooms have electric heating.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Outside on the large terrace there is a table and chairs with parasol where you can enjoy a drink and a barbeque (supplied) whilst you relax in the peaceful surroundings.  If you need to cool down why not take a dip in our above ground plunge pool which can hold up to six people – or else walk down to the rivers edge and spend a lazy afternoon fishing and watching the many birds that visit this area.

La Bergerie is a non-smoking gite but ashtrays are supplied for your use when smoking outside on the terrace.

A cot and high chair are available if required.
